Furniture can be the product of design or considered a decorative art form. In addition to the functional purpose of the furniture, it can serve a symbolic or religious purpose. Domestic furniture creates, in conjunction with other objects such as lamps or clocks, convenient, comfortable and functional interior spaces.

The furniture can be handcrafted or industrial, and due to its great ornamental load it has been considered an artistic object in the history of decorative art, especially that of the pre-industrial era.
